Makes ~1 cup · 10 min

A handful of basil from the garden turns into the most useful sauce in your kitchen. Toss with pasta, spread on bread, or freeze for winter.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh basil leaves
  • ⅓ cup pine nuts (or walnuts)
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • ½ cup olive oil
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions

  1. Pulse basil, nuts, garlic, and Parmesan in a food processor until coarse.
  2. With the motor running, drizzle in the olive oil until smooth.
  3. Season with salt. Use right away, or freeze in ice-cube trays for later.
